VoteWA is the first stop for a registered Bothell voter checking their own voter registration. It is an authenticated service, not a public browse-by-name directory. A registered voter already has an account. Someone who is not registered cannot enter the account area. The sign-in screen accepts English or Spanish and offers a separate Register to Vote route.

Enter the identity details exactly as they appear on the voter record. VoteWA does not return a list of possible people when a match fails. Once signed in, a voter can review or update registration, see districts and election information, check ballot status, and find the correct county contact.

That design keeps voter self-service separate from access to the public statewide file. For a spelling problem, an old address, or an account that will not open, contact the elections office tied to the residential address.

Route Bothell Voter Records by County

Bothell lies in both King and Snohomish counties. Registration, precinct, ballot content, and county help follow the home address, not the word “Bothell” in a mailing address. A Bothell postal address can also sit outside the incorporated city. Confirm the county before calling or requesting a local voter record.

The King County Elections site is the official fallback for Bothell residents on the King County side.

The Snohomish County Elections page supplies the matching county route for northern Bothell.

This county office sits within the Snohomish County Auditor, unlike King County Elections, which is separate from the King County recording system.

Fields in Bothell Voter Records

Washington law limits the public automated record to a defined inventory. RCW 29A.08.710 permits the voter’s name, address, political jurisdiction, gender, year of birth, voting record, registration date, and registration number. The statewide data guide breaks addresses and districts into more precise columns, which lets a researcher distinguish similarly named voters without revealing protected identifiers.

A voting-history entry means that the person took part in an election. It never reveals a candidate choice, ballot response, or how any vote was cast. A primary selection also does not create a permanent party-registration field.

Washington Voter Registration Privacy

The registration form itself is not an open document. The public list excludes the voter’s full date of birth, driver license or state identification number, last four Social Security number digits, signature, email, phone, registration-office source, and a person’s choice not to register. Future Voter information remains exempt under RCW 29A.08.725 until the young voter becomes eligible.

Those limits matter when checking a Bothell voter record. A missing full birth date or phone number is not a portal error. The office is applying the statutory public-field boundary. Protected Bothell Voter Registration

An Address Confidentiality Program participant can register as a Protected Records Voter under RCW 40.24.060. The special process withholds the person’s actual address, name, county, and precinct from the public voter rolls. Participants should obtain the Protected Voters Registration Form through the program or their county elections office rather than use ordinary online registration.

The Secretary of State protected voter instructions explain this separate channel. Protection is prospective. It does not erase records that were public before enrollment, so an older copied record may still exist elsewhere.

Request Washington's Bothell Voter File

The Washington voter database extract form provides a comprehensive list of active voters. A requester may select a statewide file or one county. A Bothell-focused project may need both King and Snohomish County files because the city crosses the boundary. Delivery is a delimited CSV file, a table format that separates each value with a set character. The file can be large enough to require database software.

1. Enter the requester’s first and last name, email, phone, street address, city, state, and ZIP code.
2. Select one data file, then choose statewide coverage or the county needed for the Bothell address.
3. Agree to RCW 29A.08.720 and .740 and RCW 42.56.070(8), complete the anti-bot control, and submit.
4. Watch the supplied email address for the download link. The state says requests may take five business days, though most are fulfilled at once.

The live form has no payment control, format choice, notarization field, identity upload, or special eligibility gate. The extract updates near the start of each month, normally by the end of the first business day, and includes current and prior-year participation plus district and precinct data.

Note: The public extract contains active voters, so it is not a complete history of every person once registered at a Bothell address.

Bothell Voter Data Changed in 2026

Chapter 213, Laws of 2026, took effect March 25, 2026. It made the Washington Secretary of State the only agency legally authorized to answer statewide voter registration database requests. Older instructions that send a requester to an individual county for a statewide extract are now out of date. County offices still help voters with their own records and county election services.

The change also reinforced criminal exposure for election officers who disclose private voter identifiers such as full birth dates, driver license numbers, or Social Security numbers. The Secretary of State’s 2026 notice describes the new protection and the sole statewide request channel.

Read Bothell Voter Record Status

Voter records change as officials compare the database with information from health, licensing, corrections, county, and federal sources. Counties research possible death matches from monthly lists, and a verified registration is usually cancelled within a month. Staff also review possible duplicate records instead of relying only on an automated match.

Returned election mail can move a registration to inactive status. Remaining inactive through two federal general elections may lead to cancellation. Other grounds include the voter’s request, a newer duplicate registration, a disqualifying court order, felony-related ineligibility, or death. A person matched to an incarceration record receives notice and ordinarily has 30 days to dispute cancellation. A voter cannot be cancelled merely for not voting while still at the same address.

Use Bothell Voter Rolls Lawfully

RCW 29A.08.720 bars use of the public voter list to mail or deliver advertisements, commercial offers, or solicitations for money, services, or anything of value. RCW 42.56.070(8) also restricts commercial requests for lists of individuals. Public access does not permit stalking, threats, impersonation, or harassment.

A recipient must take reasonable precautions against misuse. Negligently enabling another person’s prohibited conduct can create joint and several liability, meaning more than one responsible party may owe the same damages. Verify the purpose before sharing an extract or a subset of it.

Trace Bothell Voters in Poll Books

Current VoteWA accounts and monthly voter rolls are not the only election trail. The Washington State Archives holds voter registers, election returns, and poll books. A poll book is an election-day list that may record an elector’s name, residence or precinct, and participation. It does not show ballot choices.

The State Archives research portal routes inquiries by county. Puget Sound Regional Archives lists King County School Election Poll Books from 1890 through 1936. For a Bothell resident on the Snohomish side, ask Northwest Regional Archives about county auditor election series that have not been digitized. Names, an address, an approximate election year, and the correct county give archive staff the best starting point.

Historical rolls can help with genealogy, old neighborhood research, and tracing a relative across precincts. They also reveal why a present database search may be incomplete: old registers moved into an archive, while the live extract focuses on active voters.
